Vardhan SPM04 is a specially designed microscope with a high resolution CCD camera to view, instantly photograph & measure exact angle of honing ( Hatch Angle) in honed grey iron cylinder liners used in internal combustion engines. The honing texture consists of two sets of approximately parallel, stochastically placed groves at different angles to the cylinder axis. Engine oil consumption, longitivity and noxious emissions highly depend on the quality of this grove texture.

Vardhan SPM04 is interfaced with your own computer. The Honing texture image is crystal sharp & can be directly seen on the computer monitor. The image can be saved as a traceable record, exact angle of honing is measured by a user friendly software. This novel set up completely replaces the old method of testing the liner surface by fax film.

Foundries & machine shops manufacturing high quality casting for exports market are required to measure degree off cleanness after completion of the cleaning process. Degree of cleanliness is usually specified by the buyer. One or two castings out of a batch of 100 are used for analysis. The casting is sprayed with a solvent.

The solvent is allowed to drip through the casting’s inner bores & is collected together with dissolved impurities. The solvent is then passed through a filter paper, after drying; the filter paper with the impurities is placed on the stage of the microscope for determining particle size.

By Software Method
Vardhan SPM08 Microscope is interfaced with the computer & the images can be directly observed on the computer monitor with outstanding clarity & saved as traceable records. Particle size is then measured by user friendly software.

By Manual Method
The eyepieces of Vardhan SPM08 particle size measuring microscope are provided with a built in cross wire reticule. The large size mechanical stage is equipped with drum micrometers on both X & Y axis to manually measure the length, width of the particles.
